Strategy is Stuck Behind a Screen
Our work lives have become entirely digital, but strategy requires human depth. We are facing a crisis of shallow thinking and disconnection.
Screen Fatigue: We are over-meeting and under-thinking. Constant video calls drain the cognitive energy required for complex problem-solving.
Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Effort: As teams lean on Gen AI for "quick wins," we risk outsourcing our critical thinking—resulting in generic strategies that lack human nuance.
Transactional Teams: Hybrid work is efficient for tasks but fatal for trust. We are losing the "in-between" moments where culture and breakthrough ideas actually happen.
Amidst the digital noise, only 21% of strategies are actually passing the stress test (McKinsey, 2024).
Rigour & Rhythm
This is about more than going for a walk with your team. Our protocol is grounded in science and validated through application. Through pre-work and an immersive 3-day offsite we toggle between Divergent Movement (to open the mind) and Convergent Rigour (to lock in the outcome).
Movement
20 minutes of exercise improves planning and decision-making functions.
Environment
Walking in nature increases creative ideation by 60% compared to sitting.

Connection
Synchronized group movement builds trust and cooperation faster than boardroom talks.
Traditional offsites fail because they force 'creative' work into a 'convergent' environment. Research from Stanford University proves that walking increases creative output by 60%. We use the trail for Divergence and the table for Convergence.
Two Paths, One Destination: Clarity.

How Grounded Discovery creates outcomes
Part 1 - Calibration
Before we get everyone in the room, we need to ensure we are solving the right problem and that the group is primed for decision-making.
First, we align on the destination
On a walking meeting with key leader/s we will explicitly define what "Done" looks like. Stepping away from the boardroom changes the dynamic; it allows us to cut through the corporate noise and clarify the one or two non-negotiable outcomes this engagement must achieve.
Then, we ground the conversation in facts
Opinions are valuable, but data is non-negotiable. We work directly with your analysts to co-author a pre-read for the offsite that ensures Day 1 starts with a shared understanding of reality, not an argument over numbers.
Finally, we listen to the room before we enter it
Through 1:1 interviews with the participants we surface their hopes, hesitations, and the "unsaid" friction points. By understanding where people actually stand individually, we can design the sessions to bridge gaps rather than widen them.
Part 2 - The work
Once the foundation is set, we move into the intensive work. Rather than disjointed workshops, we treat these three days as a single narrative arc—moving from divergence to convergence.
Day 1 is about Expansion and Alignment
We start by opening the aperture. Using the insights from our pre-read pack, we challenge current assumptions and explore the "art of the possible." This isn't about making decisions yet; it's about getting every idea on the table and ensuring the group feels heard. We focus on psychological safety here to ensure the quietest voices—often the ones with the most detailed knowledge—are amplified.
Day 2 we shift gears into the "messy middle"
Here, we move from what could we do to what should we do. We take the broad concepts from Day 1 and subject them to stress testing. This is usually the most challenging day, as it requires prioritization and trade-offs. We facilitate structured debate to navigate conflict healthily, ensuring that we are narrowing our focus toward the most viable strategic pathways.
Day 3 we lock in the commitment
We close the loop by translating strategy into Monday-morning actions. The goal here is to leave no ambiguity. We define ownership, timelines, and immediate next steps. The session concludes not just with a plan on paper, but with a clear emotional commitment from the team to execute it.
